Who's behind WhichSpecialist

Utku Güneysu, founder of WhichSpecialist

I'm Utku Güneysu. I build research and learning tools in Istanbul, Türkiye. Free doctor directories match keywords — they don't know which surgeon has done your operation a hundred times, and they don't notice when that surgeon changes hospitals. WhichSpecialist does that legwork for you.

I'm not a doctor, and we never give medical advice — our job is to find the doctors who can. Every report is researched with AI from US sources (hospital pages, published research, public quality data), then each specialist, phone number and link is checked one by one. I read every email you send.

What's in every report

A plain-English PDF built for one person: you. Not a list of 200 names. Here is what the pages look like — taken straight from our sample reports.

Sample report page, section 2 'Specialists to consider': why each doctor was chosen, followed by the first specialist, a medical oncologist at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, with the date his current hospital page was checked.
1A short list, checked doctor by doctorEach specialist checked on their current hospital or university page, with the reason they made the list — and we tell you when a site couldn't be checked.
Sample report section 'Leads we checked and did not list': a surgeon still featured online who retired in January 2026, a new program whose website could not be verified, and a surgeon whose page does not list the operation.
2The names we left out — and whyRetired, moved, or not really focused on your condition: caught before you spend a call on them.
Sample report section 'Ready-to-send messages': a fill-in-the-brackets email to the specialist's office asking about new patients, wait times, referrals and sending records, followed by a 30-second phone script.
3Ready-to-send email and phone scriptFill in the brackets and send. Know exactly what to say in the first 30 seconds of the call.

Your situation, in plain words

What the condition is and how care is usually organized, so the first appointment doesn't feel like a foreign language.

2–3 specialists, verified

Chosen for published experience and program volume — each checked on their hospital's or university's own page within days of your report (we tell you if a site couldn't be checked). Plus the closest option to home.

Exactly who to call

Phone numbers, request forms, referral rules, how to send your scans, help for out-of-state patients.

Ready-to-send email + phone script

Fill in the brackets and send. Know what to say in the first 30 seconds of the call.

One-page visit summary

Print it and bring it. Your doctor sees your key facts and your top 3 questions at a glance.

Stories and questions

Real experiences from patients and families — the hopeful and the hard — and the questions that matter most, like "How many patients like me do you treat each year?"

What we ask — and what we don't
  • Only the condition name and your state. No names, dates of birth or medical records.
  • Never sold, never shared with doctors, hospitals or advertisers. No ad trackers on this site.
  • Deleted 12 months after delivery. We are a research service, not a healthcare provider, so we don't hold medical records at all.
Just the name, as your doctor wrote it. Please don't include names, dates of birth or record numbers.
If this is an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number now. This service is for planning, not urgent care.
Please check your email, the condition name and the agreement box, then try again.
Thank you — your request is in.

Within 24 hours we'll email you to confirm we can cover your situation, with a secure payment link. Your report arrives within 3 business days after payment.

Questions

Is this medical advice?

No. We help you find and talk to the right specialists. We don't identify or confirm any condition and we don't recommend treatments — those decisions belong to you and your doctors.

Do doctors or hospitals pay to be listed?

Never. No doctor or hospital pays to be listed, we don't sell placements, and we take no referral fees. We order the short list by documented experience and explain why for each one. You are our only customer.

Do you need my medical records?

No. The condition name and your location are enough to start. If a detail matters (for example, age group), we'll ask by email.

What if you can't find good specialists for my situation?

We tell you honestly before you pay. If we find only one verified specialist, we list one — we never pad the list. And if the report isn't helpful, we redo it once, then refund.

How do you know a doctor still works there?

Doctors move more often than directories update. For every specialist we open the hospital's or university's own page within days of your report and look for signs it's current. If they've moved, we find where. If a site couldn't be checked, the report says so and names the other source we used.
